The Rotem Moria memorial competition for Israeli Short Film
The Rotem Moria competition's goal is to support young Israeli film-makers at taking a chance, daring and creating unorthodox and challenging film in Israel.
Film-makers were invited to submit short film, 5-25 minutes long, in the genres of science fiction, fantasy, supernatural horror and the likes.
Of all the candidates, the jury panel selected finalists for a special screening at Icon, where one film will be announced as winner of the Rotem Moria competition for 2008, and granted the prize of 10,000 NIS.
The jury panel consists of representatives from the fund and the festival.
Jury Panel
Yair Pecker, chairman of the jury – A veteran of the cinema and television industries in Israel. Licensing rep. for Walt Disney and ITC in Israel. In retirement wrote children's books and today writes scripts and two of his plays will soon be on stage at the Netanya Theatre.
Danny Ben Menahem – International production manager and head producer at the Rotem Moria Fund. Ben Menahem has worked on many international film productions, among the films he's been part of lately are "The Galilee Eskimos" and "Turn Left at the End of the World".
Ya'ad Kimchi – director, television editor and chief editor of the Rotem Moria Fund. Editor of many hit television productions in Israel, mostly in the reality and docu-reality genres.
Alon Rosenblum – Fell in love with the world of cinema at the age of 3, today he is the editor of the "Seret" film site, and a film journalist for the daily newspaper "Israel Hayom".
Ilan Eshkoli – A journalist and veteran science fiction aficionado, formerly a radio broadcaster at "Kol Israel" and directors' assistant at the Israeli Educational Television and currently screenwriter on the Israeli series "Srugim".
Elad Peleg – Film maker and producer. Program director at the Sderot cinematheque, producer at the "Cinema south" and the "Rehovot Women's" film festivals. Owner of a film production company.
