Slavic writers usually shatter typical genre boundaries and sail freely on a vast ocean of "fantastyka," an umbrella word covering everything…fantastic. Nevertheless, they rarely lose their firm grip on reality. Both under communism and under capitalism, they are always eager to use their prose as a vehicle of social criticism. This lecture will chart a navigation map to the Polish ocean of "fantastyka" - from communist era writers to the contemporary Polish bestselling lists.
